On-campus employment
International students in the full-time programs with the BCIT are provided to
work for on-campus without the work permit. The On-campus employment prospects
are listed for online through the e-Jobs.
Co-op work permit
The international students are allowed for working off-campus in case, it is the
essential part of the full-time program throughout the co-op requirement of BCIT.
The work must be under 50% of whole length of full-time program as well as must
be openly associated to the program. There is no accusation for this kind of
work permit.
Volunteer activities
The subsequent volunteer activities are not needed any work permit:
•Volunteer work, which is generally unpaid, like helping at the animal shelter,
which is usually part-time as well as incidental for studies.
•Unpaid observation of the occupation or workplace for instance, following the
geologist on the sample-gathering tours. Minor tasks lacking major productivity
contribution can be performed like clerical chores.
•Unpaid helping of the family member or friend during the visit.

Off-campus work permits

Post-graduate work permit
When you have productively completed the credential at the BCIT you can have 90
days starting from date when your final grades are placed, to apply for the open
work permit via CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada).
Depending on length of the program, the CIC can grant you anyplace from 8 months
- 3 years for working in Canada.
